Two Charged With Arson In Fort Dodge Fire
FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — Fort Dodge police have charged two men with arson in a fire that destroyed an electrical business that employs the city's mayor.
Police arrested 22-year-old Tanner King on Wednesday in connection with a June 21 fire at the Bemrich Electric & Telephone Inc. building. A second suspect, 23-year-old Gregory White, remains at large.
Police say King and White robbed the business, which bears the family name of Mayor Matt Bemrich, before setting it on fire.
The Fort Dodge Messenger reports both men have been charged with first-degree arson, second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of a firearm as a felon and second-degree theft. Court records do not list an attorney for King.
Police say the men could face additional charges in connection with a separate burglary.
