FLOYD, Iowa (AP) — The trial for a man charged in the killing of 5-year-old Evelyn Miller has been delayed until next year.

Casey Frederiksen's trial on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse had been set to begin Oct. 28 in Hamilton County District Court in Webster City.

But the Globe Gazette newspaper reports the trial has been delayed until May 6, 2014, so lawyers have more time to prepare.

The 34-year-old Frederiksen was arrested last fall and charged in the girl's death in July 2005.

Frederiksen was the live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother.

The trail was moved from Floyd County due to publicity about the case.

He's being held at the Bremer County Jail.
