Iowa High Court to Hear Pastor's Sex Exploitation Case
PELLA, Iowa - The Iowa Supreme Court plans to review a ruling that ordered a new trial for a former Iowa pastor.
Patrick Edouard is accused of sexually preying on women in his congregation. Court records say it happened at his Pella home. He's the former pastor at Covenant Reform Church.
In November, the Iowa Court of Appeals threw out a jury verdict that found him guilty of four counts of sexual exploitation. The appeals court said an improper jury instruction undermined the defense. Eduard admitted to sexual conduct with the women but denied he was their counselor.
The Iowa Attorney General's Office appealed.
Edouard is free pending appeal.
