Protesters Hold Vigil For Iowa City Woman
IOWA CITY, Iowa - An arrest in Iowa City lead to two evening vigils outside of the Johnson County Jail Friday and Saturday nights.
Iowa City Police arrested Basilia Apolonio Friday evening on two counts of Fradulent Practice. This came after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Iowa Department of Transportation investigation.
Protestors at Friday's rally said her arrest along Highway 6 was unjustified. They also said police arrested her while her children were in the car watching. Apolonio told the crowd at Saturday's vigil that she is doing all of this for her children.
