DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police say a man evicted from his former Des Moines apartment faces charges after he allegedly broke back in and took a nap.

Des Moines police say they kicked down an apartment door Wednesday night and found 60-year-old David Stephenson sleeping in a bedroom. The pad lock to the apartment was broken and the door had been chained shut. No one else was in the apartment at the time.

The building manager told police that Stephenson was legally evicted prior to the break-in.

The Des Moines Register says Stephenson faces a third-degree burglary charge. Court records do not list an attorney. He remains at the Polk County Jail.
