CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A 27-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he failed to pull over during a traffic stop in Cedar Rapids, leading to a chase.
A release from the Cedar Rapids police department said officers tried to stop the driver, Koady McLaud, around 2:36 a.m. for speeding near the intersection of 16th Ave. and 18th St. SW.
McLaud then eluded police and began to travel east bound on Mount Vernon Rd. SE, through Linn County, until he reached Mount Vernon where Mount Vernon police used stop sticks to assist in apprehending him, the report said.
The report said McLaud then struck the side of a Mount Vernon squad car, leaving minor damage, before he was stopped near 1st St. E and Highway 30 in Mount Vernon. Police did not indicate how fast McLaud was driving during the incident.
McLaud is accused of eluding, driving while barred, hit and run, as well as other traffic offenses, police said. He was transported to the Linn County Jail.
