Police Charge 16-Year-Old Girl in Teen's Death
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A 16-year-old Des Moines girl faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of a Chicago teenager.
The Des Moines Police Department says Hailey Bass was arrested and charged Monday night after she voluntarily visited the station and spoke with detectives. Officials say she will be charged as an adult.
Bass is accused of shooting 19-year-old Anthony Denzell Moss. He was found with a single gunshot wound early Sunday morning in an apartment in the city's River Bend area.
The Des Moines Register reports Sgt. Jason Halifax says Bass and Moss knew each other, but he did not elaborate.
Court records do not list an attorney for Bass.
