One Person Arrested, Gun Recovered Following Police Chase in Waterloo

WATERLOO, Iowa - Police recovered a gun and arrested one person following a chase Friday afternoon in Waterloo.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, officers were in the process of conducting a traffic stop in the 700 block of Logan Avenue. Several people fled the vehicle on foot.

18-year-old Marquis Norris was captured following a foot chase with officers. Norris was found to be in possession of a handgun.

Norris was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail where he was charged with Carrying Weapons and Interference With Official Acts.

Friday's arrest comes as police in Waterloo continue to investigate two shootings in the last 24 hours that left one person dead. Police said that Norris is not considered a suspect in the shooting death.
