Occupy Demonstrators Arrested in Des Moines
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Occupy protesters who refused to leave the Capitol grounds in Des Moines have been arrested.
About 10 protesters remained on the grounds after being warned that they were violating the 11 p.m. closing time. The arrests began a little after 11:15 p.m. The protesters had been given a city deadline of Tuesday to leave Stewart Square park. On Sunday afternoon, around 70 people picked up tents and signs and marched back to the Capitol space demonstrators had dubbed "People's Park." Thirty people were arrested there Oct. 9 when they refused to leave at closing time. The Occupy movement began in New York, decrying what protesters see as corporate greed and the growing gap between rich and poor. More Good Stuff |
