OLIN, Iowa- A motion for a new trial was denied Thursday for a former Olin High School resource teacher and volleyball coach convicted of six counts related to sexual exploitation.

In April, a jury found Jeremy Chamberlin, 34, guilty of felony sexual exploitation by a school employee, two misdemeanor counts of lascivious conduct of a minor and three misdemeanor counts of disseminating or exhibiting of obscene materials to a minor.

A now 16-year-old victim testified during trial that Chamberlin began texting her to discuss volleyball and other school activities, but the texting turned sexual.

On several occasions between September 2009 and January 2010 the teacher asked the girl to meet him when they could be alone. The girl testified that he kissed and groped her, which made her feel scared and uncomfortable.

Chamberlin’s sentencing is scheduled for July 5 at 2:00 p.m.
