Narcotics Warrant Served Early Tuesday Morning

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Cedar Rapids Police Department’s Special Response Team served a warrant at a residence early Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 5 a.m., members of the team served a narcotics search warrant at 1100 Clifton St. NE. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the call for service is still open and she is not certain what arrests have come out of the raid.
SRT members deployed a flashbang – a device designed to disorient a subject or subjects – when the warrant was served. Though loud, the devices are typically not harmful, Hamblin said.
Hamblin said the SRT’s presence and deployment likely caught some residents off guard, but added it is important for police not to risk tipping off the subject of a warrant by warning their neighbors.
