Monticello Man Charged Following Bar Stabbing

MONTICELLO, Iowa - The Jones County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged a Monticello man they said was involved in a stabbing, Monday.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Jones Regional Medical Center at 9:32 p.m. of a victim who walked into their emergency room with a stab wound. A Monticello police officer responded to Jones Regional Medical Center.

According to a release, the stabbing happened at the Northside Bar in Monticello. According to police, Joshua Meyer, 26, of Monticello, approached the victim from behind who was sitting at the bar, with a knife, and stabbed him in the neck causing a laceration.

The victim was transported to Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa, and then transported by the Anamosa ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids for further treatment. His condition is unknown.

Meyer was arrested and charged with willful injury and going armed with intent. He is currently being held in the Jones County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation.
