OTTUMWA, Iowa -- Officials are looking for a man who escaped from an Ottumwa work release facility Saturday.

A news release from the Iowa Department of Corrections said Robert Thomas Andrews, 33, has been placed on escape status following an unexcused absence from the facility.

Andrews was serving a 31-year sentence originally imposed in 1998. He was transferred to work release in June.

Andrews is described as a white male with blond hair and blue eyes, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. He has tattoos on his abdomen, left ankle, left arm, back, right calf and chest.

Anyone with information as to Andrews' whereabouts is asked to contact Ottumwa police or the Wapello County Sheriff's Department.
