Man in Custody Following Chase, Crash

One person was injured in a crash following a police chase at the corner of Lafayette and Vinton streets in Waterloo Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.

WATERLOO, Iowa - Police arrested a man following a vehicle chase that ended in a crash Friday afternoon.

The suspect driver ran off on foot following the accident, but the driver of the car he collided with was injured, and paramedics with Waterloo Fire Rescue took her to a local hospital.

The incident began shortly before 1:15 p.m. when officers tried to pull over a GMC Yukon. The driver allegedly refused to stop, and the pursuit wound around the old Rath Packing area before the Yukon collided with a passenger car at the intersection of Vinton and Lafayette streets, police said.

He then ran off and was captured a few blocks away.

No names have yet been released by police.
