FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — Iowa prison officials are investigating the death of a 73-year-old inmate who was found unresponsive at a prison in Fort Dodge.

Department of Corrections spokesman Fred Scaletta says Friday that Dennis Lass was found unresponsive Thursday night in a restroom at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility.

Officers and medics were called and began cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Lass was then taken to a Fort Dodge hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

There are no indications of foul play, but officials are investigating the death. An autopsy is planned.

Lass was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder from Marshall County. He began his sentence in November 1973.
