SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A man has been arrested, accused of murder after a 54-year-old man died following an attack on him and a woman at a Sioux City home.
Authorities say 23-year-old James Kroll faces charges of murder, attempted murder and burglary. Police say he broke into the home early on Wednesday morning and used a crowbar to attack the 54-year-old residents.
Police say Jeffery Moravek died at Mercy Medical Center. The hospital says it can't release any information about the other victim, Mary Tope.
Police say both people knew Kroll, as did Tope's daughter, who was at the home but was not attacked. Police say she gave officers Kroll's name and cellphone number.
Kroll remained in custody Thursday, pending $1 million bail. Online court records don't list the name of his attorney.
