Arrest Made in Fayette County Anhydrous Ammonia LeakBy Jeff Raasch, Reporter
HAWKEYE, Iowa – An Arlington man has been arrested in connection with an anhydrous ammonia incident that sent a Fayette County sheriff’s deputy to the hospital.
Authorities arrested Kyle D. Boleyn, 36, on a warrant Sunday. He is accused of trying to steal anhydrous ammonia on Feb. 1 from a tank at a cooperative just north of Hawkeye. Sheriff Marty Fisher said a deputy was overcome by vapors while trying to apprehend the suspect. She was treated and released from Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Fisher said. The suspect was not immediately captured. Fisher said an arrest warrant to be issued for Boleyn based on evidence gathered at the scene and statements from an eye witness. Boleyn has been charged with possession of anhydrous ammonia with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and second-degree criminal mischief. He was also charged with failing to comply with the sex offender registry, after authorities learned during the investigation that he had not been living at his registered location for more than two weeks. All three charges are felonies. If convicted of each, Boleyn faces up to 15 years in prison. Anyone with further information about the incident is asked to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at (563) 422-6067. Most Popular >>More Good Stuff |
