Cedar Rapids Man Arrested Following Bank Robbery in Ely
ELY, Iowa - One person is in custody following a Friday morning bank robbery in Ely.
Officials were called to the Solon State Bank, located at 1540 State Street, at about 9 a.m.
Investigators said a man walked into the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money. He did not display a weapon.
The man fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. A description of the suspect's vehicle was reported to law enforcement.
Robert David Dennis Melton, 50, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested a short time later. He has been charged with second-degree robbery and is in the Linn County Jail.
