Iowa City Police Say Cedar Rapids Man Was 'Playing Chicken' On Interstate 80

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A Cedar Rapids man is accused of “playing chicken” with cars on Interstate 80 Monday night.
According to the Iowa City Police Department, officers were called out to westbound Interstate 80 at 9:14 p.m. Monday for a report of a reckless driver at the 246 mile marker. The driver was reportedly “playing chicken” with other cars and trying to run vehicles off the road.
Police pulled over the driver, identified as 20-year-old William A. Boyd, at the First Avenue exit in Coralville. Police said Boyd’s license was suspended until May 2014 for being a habitual offender. Boyd allegedly told police he thought his license was still valid.
Boyd was taken into custody and he faces one count of driving while barred – habitual offender, an aggravated misdemeanor.
