IOWA CITY, Iowa - Officials responded to a report of a fire at the Hampton Inn in Iowa City around 6:45 Sunday night. Firefighters noticed smoke in one of the hallways of the hotel, and found a fire in one of the rooms.

Police arrested 47 year old Chad William Clark for First Degree Arson after officers say he disabled the smoke detector in his room and intentionally set the down comforter on fire.

Officials say Clark was treated at a local hospital for minor burns before his arrest. They did not immediately have an estimate of the damage done to the hotel room.
