IOWA CITY, Iowa -- An Iowa City man is accused of robbing a Johnson County family in August.

According to Johnson County Sheriff's Office criminal complaints, on Aug. 5, 41-year-old Laffite D. Pierre and another man, not identified in the complaints, entered a residence at the Breckenridge Estates mobile home park armed with handguns. Police said Pierre searched the residence while the other suspect held the resident and her children at gunpoint.

The men fled the residence with the victim's purse and one of the children's wallets after duct taping the woman's hands behind her back and placing duct tape across her mouth. The children were ordered into the bathroom and forced to count to 100 before coming out.

Pierre has been arrested and faces charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. Each class B felony carries a potential 25 year prison sentence.
