CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Four men have been arrested after a prostitution sting at a northeast Cedar Rapids hotel Tuesday.
Zachary M. Russell, 23, of Marion, Tyler B. Timion, 43, of Cedar Falls, Jamie M. Koehler, 30, of Cedar Rapids and Robert J. Miller, 67, of Cedar Rapids, were arrested after Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said an undercover officer solicited a sex act for money and prearranged a time to meet the men at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham at 4444 Czech Ln. NE.
Oftentimes area departments will team up for bigger raids like the one in June that resulted in around 30 arrests, but Sgt. Hamblin said this raid was "solo," meaning only the Cedar Rapids Police Department was involved. Sgt. Hamblin could not elaborate on the means of discovering the men since the investigation is ongoing.
“We use a variety of avenues, sometimes we put ads out there, or we even have undercover officers who walk on the street,” Sgt. Hamblin said. “We warn the public not to solicit sex for money."
The four men could face prostitution charges, and were transported to the Linn County Jail.
