CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Some area residents say they've received a telephone call from someone claiming to be with the IRS who tells them they're eligible for a sizable tax rebate. The IRS says those calls are fake.

The scam artist asks for the targeted victim's bank account information for direct deposit of the rebate. The IRS says it never makes such calls.

The agency says you can report these calls to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1-800-366-4484.
