DUBUQUE, Iowa -- A Wisconsin man is in custody for allegedly robbing a Dubuque gas station Sunday morning.
According to the Dubuque Police Department, officers responded to the Amoco/BP convenience store, 1215 E. 16th St., at 7:44 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery. Employees told the officers the store had just been robbed at gunpoint. The suspect, who was last seen running toward a restaurant adjacent to the gas station, fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Using witness accounts, surveillance video and traffic cameras, police said they were able to hone in on a suspect vehicle and license plate number. The vehicle was registered to Chad K. Reuter, 35, of Bloomington, Wisconson. Grant County sheriff deputies found Reuter in front of his house at 10:30 a.m. the morning of the robbery.
Police said Reuter agreed to speak with officers while search warrants were executed for his home and vehicle. Police said the interview and warrants produced evidence implicating Reuter in the robbery. He was arrested and faces one count of first-degree robbery, a class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
