Des Moines Man Sentenced to Prison Following Waterloo Traffic Stop
WATERLOO, Iowa - A Des Moines man is going to federal prison following a traffic stop in Waterloo.
Prosecutors say 31-year-old Delvonn Battle was a passenger in a car that police stopped in January 2012. But they found a loaded 9-millimeter handgun under Battle's seat. A jury found him guilty of a federal charge in May.
A judge has sentenced Battle to 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say Battle used the gun during a shooting at a Des Moines gas station in December 2011. That gas station shooting injured one person.
