DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Des Moines police are looking for two men who are accused of stealing $500 and medication from a woman after she fell out of her wheelchair.

Sharon Barnhill of Des Moines says she was preparing to pay her rent at her south-side apartment when her wheelchair caught a curve and she tumbled out. Barnhill says two men approached her, but instead of helping, they took her purse. Barnhill says she tried to fight the men off, but couldn't.

Barnhill moved to Des Moines from Chicago seven years ago to raise her three children, all now adults. She was forced to use a motorized scooter after falling down a flight of stairs, but the scooter broke in August.

Des Moines Police Sgt. Steve Woody says authorities are trying to identify suspects.
