CLINTON, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have charged an eastern Iowa man in connection with the death of his 13-month-old daughter, and an arrest warrant has been issued for the girl's mother.

The Quad-City Times reports 24-year-old Spencer James Smith, of Clinton, is charged with felony child endangerment resulting in death. He was arrested Monday at a correctional facility in Davenport.

Authorities say Marlee Lynn Tracy died in September after ingesting an acute dose of methadone. She was unresponsive when her parents took her to a Clinton hospital, and she died three days later.

Medical tests also revealed Marlee was exposed to methamphetamine.

An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for 25-year-old Precious Bailey in connection to the case. Additional information has not been released. Court records do not list an attorney for Smith.
