CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Someone broke into local skate shop, EduSkate, on 3rd Avenue Southwest in Cedar Rapids.

It likely happened early Tuesday morning. The burglar used a brick to shatter the front door glass. Owner Nate Sherwood says police are closing in on the person responsible. The burglar took about $1,500 worth of skate boards, parts and apparel.

"Honestly, I'm happy they didn't know what they were looking for," said Sherwood. "There's a lot of stuff in here worth a lot more and a lot more sentimental."

EduSkate opened earlier this year. Sherwood says much of the damage will be covered by his insurance. No one was in the store at the time of the break-in and no one was hurt.
