Burglars Getting More Creative, Cedar Rapids Police Warn
By Lee Hermiston, Reporter
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Cedar Rapids police warn that would-be burglars are getting more creative in their attempts to victimize area residents.
In recent weeks, police have taken reports of suspicious people posing as yard workers or employees of cable and power companies or the government. Police said burglars have also knocked on doors of homes and asked for a random person in order to check out the residence. If no one answers the door, they will break in.
Police advise if you see someone in your yard or a neighbor's yard that you don't know, ask them what they are doing. Keep a distance and get a good description of the suspect. Residents should also call their local law enforcement agency if they witness any suspicious activity.
