Demolition of Flooded Normandy Drive Properties Begins

IOWA CITY - A demolition process of Iowa City properties began on Tuesday.

The buildings were purchased by the City through the Section 404 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The properties will now be returned to green space.

The demolitions got underway Tuesday morning at 609 Normandy Drive.

As a safety measure, the city asks the public to stay on the opposite side of the street while the demolition takes place.
