West Des Moines Pursues Data Center Project

By Richard Pratt

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — West Des Moines officials have been negotiating with a company to land a $140 million data center project.

The name of the company is confidential, but West Des Moines economic development director Clyde Evans says the name is a familiar one.

Evans says "Project Mountain," as it is known for now, is a two-phase project that would bring at least 36 jobs to West Des Moines. On Monday night the West Des Moines City Council approved a High Quality Jobs grant application that could provide tax benefits for the company.
