Iowa Officials Hope Sales Tax Holiday Lures Nebraska Shoppers
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Retailers in Iowa cities along the Missouri River are hoping the state's sales tax holiday will bring shoppers from neighboring Nebraska.
The Council Bluffs Nonpareil reports that the holiday begins Friday and ends at midnight Saturday.
There will be no sales tax collected on clothing or footwear priced under $100.
The event has been held in Iowa every year since 2000 and is timed to coincide with the back-to-school shopping season.
