Former Hostess Brands Workers Invited to Informational Meeting

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Hostess Brands workers who were laid off in the past 16 months are invited to learn about reemployment options at an informational meeting next week.

The meeting for individuals let go since Nov. 11, 2011 will cover possible reemployment services, including training, job relocation and possible wage subsidies and tax credits. Deadlines and timeframes also will be reviewed.

Those who attend also will complete paperwork to determine eligibility for the services under the Trade Act of 2011.

About 80 employees were affected when the Hostess plant in Waterloo closed Nov. 16.

The meeting, set for 9:30 a.m. on April 5, will be held at in room 37 at the Cedar Rapids IowaWORKS Center: 4444 First Ave. NE, Ste. 436. Former employees who are unable to attend can get information by calling the local IowaWORKS office at (319) 365-9474.
