By Aaron Hepker

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — DuPont says it plans to build a new plant research facility in China for its Pioneer Hi-Bred seed business.

The new building, to be located in Beijing, is slated to open later this year. It will employ 50 researchers. The cost of the project was not released.

The facility will develop new high-yielding corn hybrids designed to improve the sustainability of farming in China. It's the latest addition to DuPont's growing research and development network in China.

Pioneer has seven other research locations and a research joint venture with a Peking University bio-agriculture company.
