CEDAR RAPIDS – Mary Quass, president and chief executive officer of NRG Media in Cedar Rapids, was named to the list of The 40 Most Powerful People in Radio in the June 12 edition of Radio Ink, an industry publication.

Radio Ink, which focuses on the radio broadcasting industry, produces an annual list of powerful people in radio. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Quass has been named to the list.

NRG Media, 2875 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, owns and operates 45 radio stations in Iowa and three other states in the Midwest.

Quass began her radio career in 1977 as an account executive for KHAK-FM in Cedar Rapids and worked her way up the corporate ladder to general manager of the station in 1982. She became the station owner in 1988 when she formed Quass Broadcasting.

NRG Media was formed on March 1, 2005, by the merger of NewRadio Group, a company owned by Quass, and the radio assets of Waitt Media.
