ANKENY, Iowa (AP) — Casey's General stores has announced plans to buy 22 Kum & Go stores across Iowa.

The Ankeny-based convenience store chain announced the purchase of the stores from West Des Moines-based Kum & Go on Friday. The stores will change names once the deal closes next month.

The Des Moines Register is reporting that Kum & Go President Kyle Krause says proceeds from the sale will be reinvested in Kum & Go's more than 400 remaining stores and to drive long-term business and growth strategies.

Casey's President Robert Myers says the stores are predominantly in rural communities, which have proven to be an excellent fit for the company's business model.

The acquisition brings to 475 the number of stores Casey's has in Iowa.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
