Airport Commerce Park Has A New Plan

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - New plans that could speed along development in a major business park near The Eastern Iowa Airport are up for review by the Cedar Rapids Planning Commission.
The Airport Commerce Park has over 200 acres on both sides of Wright Brothers Boulevard west of the I-380 interchange, including two hotels, a medical office, a hydraulics company and other businesses.
Wright Brothers Boulevard LC proposed a revision of the plat for the subdivision that will open about 60 acres for development, extending Atlantic Drive to the south from RuffaloCODY's current office and Capital Drive west from FedEx to The Eastern Iowa Airport's property boundary.
Don Primus of Wright Brothers Boulevard LC said the project, if approved, will move forward next spring. While the plat proposes 34 parcels, he said the lot sizes could be modified to suit development needs, with lots potentially ranging from two acres to 40 acres in size.
The company is moving forward on the project mainly because of growing development interest, Primus said. Plans will be reviewed by the planning commission on Thursday. The plan was described as consistent with the city's comprehensive plan, city codes and regulations in a staff memo to the commission.
