Eastern Iowa Airport Names New Director
By Mary Sharp
LINN COUNTY - Tim Bradshaw has been named director of The Eastern Iowa Airport.
Bradshaw, 51, is the deputy executive director and chief operating officer of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority in Louisville, Ky. He will take over at The Eastern Iowa Airport on June 28.
Bradshaw, one of three finalists for airport director, replaces Dan Mann, who left Cedar Rapids in February to become executive director of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport Authority in Columbia, S.C.
Bradshaw will receive an annual salary of $141,086 in Cedar Rapids. He will report to the Cedar Rapids Airport Commission, which operates the city-owned airport.
The Eastern Iowa Airport is a standalone entity that does not receive city or county property tax revenue. Bradshaw's appointment by the commission is not subject to Cedar Rapids City Council approval.
Dan Thies, chairman of the Cedar Rapids Airport Commission, said Bradshaw brings experience from airports of various sizes and understands the importance of working with the community.
"We were very impressed with Tim's background and his more than 20 years of experience at airports," Thies said. "He really embraces the role the airport director must play in engaging the community, whether that's talking about recruiting airlines for more flights or determining customer service improvements."
Bradshaw was chosen from a field of 25 applicants who were part of a nationwide search that began in February. He will join the airport during the reconstruction of the facility's main runway and intersection with its secondary runway, a $21.8 million, 112-day project that begins June 3.
"I'm certainly looking forward to joining the team at The Eastern Iowa Airport," Bradshaw said in a statement released by the airport. "With the plans and improvements that the commission and staff already have in place, I am confident that together we will be able to position the airport for growth that will serve the region well into the future ."
Bradshaw, who has a wife, Janee, and daughter, Jessica, 17, joined the Louisville Regional Airport Authority in 2008.
He was previously airport manager for Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport, Owensboro, Ky.; airport manager for Bowling Green Warren County Airport, Bowling Green, Ky.; operations supervisor for Johnson Controls World Services, Teterboro, N.J.; airport and fixed base operator manager for New Garden Aviation, Toughkenamon, Pa.
Bradshaw earned a bachelor of science in aviation business administration from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a master of public administration from Western Kentucky University.
Airport directors and commissions do not set airline fares. Each airline sets fares depending on route competition and other factors.
