Newton Company, TPI, Confirms Temporary Workforce ReductionKCCI.com
NEWTON - TPI, a wind turbine blade manufacture in Newton, confirmed to KCCI on Friday that it plans to temporarily reduce it's workforce.
Company officials said the Newton plant is "provisionally reducing its temporary workforce." The company declined to provide information about how many positions will be affected. The company hired back 80 people in October that it laid off in July of last year. At that time company President Steve Lockard said the wind turbine business was expected to grow and it wants to get back to a full work force of 400. "The company expects to bring its temporary associates back when conditions warrant. While TPI remains bullish on a wind energy market rebound, the company expects such matters at market demand, product volumes, modifications to is daily operations and associate levels to continue to fluctuate," said a statement issued by the company on Friday morning. TPI said originally that it hoped to build up its work force to 500 fall 2010. http://www.tpicomposites.com More Good Stuff |
