Retail Holiday Shopping Expected to Slow

AMES - Despite the statistical end of the recession, Iowa State economists predict state retailers will see a drop in holiday sales.

They say with Iowa's unemployment still high, many consumers aren't feeling the recovery yet.

They predict the state's holiday sales will drop three percent from last year.

One area that should increase, though, is online shopping as people search for the best deals.
