Girls get High Tech at Kirkwood

CEDAR RAPIDS - Friday was High Tech Girls Day at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

About 80 local high school students attended the event. It's designed to show how women can take a more active role in science and technology.

Female professionals at Kirkwood showed off their skills in digital mapping and computer programming.

Students say the event was a great way to prepare for their careers.
