LE MARS (AP) - A company the makes ice cream cones and wafers has announced plans for a $5.7 million expansion of a plant in Le Mars, in northwest Iowa.

Dean Jacobson, co-owner of BoDeans Baking, declined to discuss details of the project, which will receive a financial boost from the city, which approved a zero-interest loan of up to $15,000 to help the company secure state funding.

The Le Mars Business Initiative Corporation is contributing another $5,000 for the loan.

BoDeans has been invited to apply for $95,000 in state funds, which requires a 20 percent match.

The amount of state funding will be determined by the number of jobs created or retained.

BoDeans employs more than 100 people at its three Le Mars facilities.
