CEDAR RAPIDS - A worldwide construction company announced it is making temporary layoffs at its Cedar Rapids location.

About 60 workers will be affected by the move.

Terex Cedarapids general manager Lowell Puls says a 65-70% decline of their gravel making business from last year is reason for the decision.

The company blames the slumping housing industry.

Puls says the layoffs are temporary until the company gains more business.

The busy season for Terex Cedarapids is from April through July.
