MORAVIA (AP) - The Honey Creek Resort State Park is planning a grand opening celebration for next week.

The $62 million project is located on 850 acres on the northern shore of Rathbun Lake in Appanoose County.

It offers a lodge with guest rooms and suites, a convention center, an 18-hole championship golf course, an indoor water park, dining, RV park, nine miles of hiking/biking trails and other outdoor activities.

The grand opening is scheduled for Oct. 17 and will include a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony. It will feature Iowa Gov. Chet Culver and Richard Leopold, the director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
