Head on Collision Kills One in Tama County

TAMA COUNTY, Iowa - One person has died after a head on collision in Tama County. The accident happened near the junction of Highways 63 and 96 around 9:40 p.m. on Friday.

The Iowa State Patrol says 71-year-old Corrine Elston of Traer was traveling north on Highway 63 when she lost control on the ice and crossed the center line. The car collided with a semi traveling south. Elston died on the scene.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
