Black Hawk County Officials Investigate Inmate Death
WATERLOO, Iowa - An inmate being held in the intake area of the Black Hawk County jail has died. A sheriff's deputy found the inmate to be unresponsive around 6:25 p.m. on Friday.
An ambulance took the inmate to Allen Hospital in Waterloo where he was pronounced dead.
The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office has started an investigation while the State Medical Examiner conducts an autopsy.
The Sheriff's Office has also brought in the Iowa DCI for an independent investigation.
