Vilsack Taps Utilities Chairman as Chief of Staff

IOWA CITY (AP) - USDA Secretary and former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack has named Iowa Utilities Board chairman John Norris his chief of staff.

Norris has served as board chair since 2005. His wife, veteran Iowa Democratic political operative Jackie Norris, was picked as Michelle Obama's chief of staff late last year.

Gov. Chet Culver says in a news release Norris is a "great public "servant" and says the Norrises will continue to serve Iowa and the nation from Washington, D.C.

The release did not say who would replace Norris on the utilities board.
