Metro Closes Station After Rider Falls

By Becky Ogann

WASHINGTON (AP) - Metro officials say someone fell onto the tracks at a downtown train station, prompting officials to turn around some trains.

Metro spokesman Doug Karas said Tuesday the Gallery Place station on the Red Line was closed after the accident and trains were turning around at Judiciary Square and Farragut North.

The closure is forcing people to walk further to reach the National Mall.

Karas says the incident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. He says it's not clear whether crowding on the platforms is to blame for the person falling.
