LINN COUNTY, Iowa - Linn County Sheriff's deputies responded to a single vehicle crash around 12:39 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived they found a van with a utility pole on it near the intersection of Sawyer Road and Prairieburg Road.

Deputies say 47-year-old Christine Egger-Jacobson of Olin failed to stop at the stop sign and drove east through the intersection. The van then drove into the east ditch, and hit and broke a utility pole before it stopped.

Live power lines covered the vehicle and were across Prairieburg Road when officials arrived. The Linn County REC had to make the area safe before emegency personal could go to the van and get Egger-Jaconson out. She was then flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her condition is unknown.

Linn County officials barricaded the intersection where the crash took place. It will remain closed until 7 a.m. Tuesday as crews work to repair the lines.

Charges for the crash are pending, and the Linn County Sheriff's office is leading the investigation. The Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by Anamosa ambulance, Prairieburg Fire, Coggon Fire and Lifeguard helicopter.
