Wisconsin Man Facing Homicide Charges After Nine-Hour Chase

By Ellen Kurt

GRANT COUNTY, Wisconsin - A Wisconsin man suspected in a Madison stabbing is in custody after authorities say he stole two cars and led police on a chase through four counties. Authorities say James Kruger, 36, of Madison, was driving the wrong way around 4 a.m. Tuesday. So Platteville police tried to stop him.

He went into a relative's house in Cassville, held him at gunpoint and took off with some of his money and guns. About seven hours later, Kruger was located at another house in Cassville where Grant County Sheriff's say he took a man hostage. James took the man's truck and trailer and left the home. His wife called police saying James threatened to kill her husband.

Kruger drove through Mount Ida, Fenimore and Dodgeville. Police were able to arrest him using stop sticks that caused him to crash his car in Dane County, Wisconsin.

Some of the charges he is facing include eluding, attempted homicide, robbery and kidnapping.
